Does Your Small Business Website Suck?

Does your small business website work?

Have you gone through your website to experience your customers experience?  What was it like?

Is it clear what you want the customer to do after getting to your site? Is there a call to action?

What is the purpose of the About Me or About Us page? are you addressing their wants? Does it make you feel engaged?

Is the copy the best? Many sites have been created by computer geeks with some “company information”. Generally it’s not very exciting or engaging.

Rate your small business website

Go and test your site now!

Is it mobile friendly? Or do you have to zoom in, zoom out and scroll around?

Is it full of jargon? Industry specific TLA’s (three letter acronyms) or technical information that is “bah””

Does it solve the customer’s problem? They don’t go to your site to see all your accreditations and industry memberships!

Does it load fast? If not people leave within a few seconds. Subconscious thought … slow website slow service!

Do you know what you want a customer to do? Does the site have a clear call-to-action?

Does the site look like it was created 10 years ago? All spider webs and moth balls?

Is it full of irrelevant clutter? Looks like a granny’s house with bits and pieces everywhere. Or like the interior of a bordello with flashy lights and music?

Is navigating your website like wandering through a medieval village or through a modern well laid out city?

Go back and ask yourself “how do I make my site so that when someone arrives they do not leave except to buy?”

Or will they willingly leave their email address or even better their phone number? And you have a system that immediately sends them a phone message or email.

Or someone that gets on the phone and says "I see you’ve just been on our website is there anything I can do to help?"

How can you engage with customers and potential customers – knowing that even if people do not buy immediately they will talk to their friends about the great experience.

This will be another great source of business - word of mouth.

Get your site right ... or lose customers!
